We were thrilled to have our nieces and their parents visiting this week from Southeast Asia. They moved last year and, boy, have we missed them!
When I met John, he was living with his brother, sister-in-law, and, at the time, his only niece Talia. In fact, the very first time we met was at their house during a progressive dinner, where John and I were assigned to make desserts. John impressed me with his pineapple upside down cake and a s’mores pie and I melted when I saw him playing with Talia at the end of the night. John and I got married and moved into an apartment four blocks away, because that was the closest we could find! The days were filled with family dinners and packing lunches together, visits to the playground right behind our apartment, Friday night date nights with Talia, and sunset concerts at the Capitol. We couldn’t have been happier to live so close!
We kicked off the week with our annual birthday photo session. I can’t believe Talia is FIVE! Make it slow down!! She is such a ham and seems to really enjoy the tradition. She is incredibly photogenic, just like her mom!
Talia and John are pretty crazy about each other!
Ok, she has us both wrapped around her finger!
John and I took Talia to Glen Echo Park. It is a vintage amusement park with a beautiful, almost 100 year old carousel!
We had fun taking updated family photos with John’s parents, siblings, and nieces and nephew!
We loved spending time with the girls at our house–building forts in the kitchen and babies napping in our guest room!
Talia had so much fun on the carousel at Glen Echo Park that she convinced us to take her to another carousel! So, off we went to National Harbor!
Thank you for a wonderful week, Talia and Kate! We love you so much!
