You can find us in our garden, cooking from scratch, or making homemade lotion, sunscreen, and tinted lip balm to accommodate Bethany’s allergies! Chronic illness has slowed us down in a fast paced city, but we love our slower, simplified life together. We savor a beautiful sunset, the free military band concerts at the Capitol on summer nights, and sitting on our front porch, listening to records through the open windows!

We are most happy when we are with our nieces and nephews! We are overjoyed to be Aunt Bethany and Uncle Johnny to seven of the absolute best kids, ranging in ages from 3 to 17!

Bethany & John

We met at a progressive dinner (where the courses are hosted at different houses)! We were assigned to desserts; John made a pineapple upside down cake and a s'mores pie and Bethany made a chocolate birthday cake!

Our second get together was on December 21. John invited a "group of friends" to visit the Botanic Gardens. It turned out to be us and our friend Ben. Every year Bethany asks if we can go on another two on one date (The Bachelorette anyone?)!

We planned an intimate wedding at the Hay-Adams with 40 people in 10 weeks! Our dear friend Brooke was able to attend, for which we are very grateful. Both sets of parents planned celebrations in our hometowns of Kingsport, TN, and Pittsburgh!

The second Saturday of every month is our favorite because we host a spaghetti and meatball dinner! With Bethany's complicated food allergies and chronic health issues, we LOVE having friends and family around our extra large dining table!
